Design exception paths before the line drowns

Which cases run, which wait, which escalate to a named judge, with capacity and a weekly mix review.

A practical example

What this looks like in the business

Invoice match looks great for two weeks, then a new vendor pack floods a queue with no owner and no SLA. The desk writes policy: high confidence and low impact execute; middle band waits for a human with evidence; low confidence or high money impact escalates immediately. Thresholds start conservative and only tighten on production evidence. Exception mix becomes an operating metric, not a model metric.

What you leave with. A named exception path, a judge, and the capacity it requires.

Not this. Prompting a bot to flag weird invoices or a half-day threshold tweak with no capacity plan. Calendar for this class of work is measured in weeks, not hours.
